EMILY BAKER
VOICES OF THE PERMIAN BASIN DIRECTOR
Emily grew up in Azle, TX. She received her B.M. in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. Upon graduating, she taught elementary music at Zaharis Elementary in Mesa, AZ, while her husband, Eric pursued a Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance from Arizona State University. In her second year of teaching, Mrs. Baker was asked to assist a veteran teacher in revising the elementary music curriculum for Mesa Public Schools, the largest school district in the state of Arizona. Mrs. Baker and her husband Eric came to the Permian Basin in July 2006, where she served as the assistant choir director at Bonham Junior High for one year and as the General Music teacher at Hays Magnet Academy for two years. In 2009, Mrs. Baker resigned her full time teaching position to stay at home with her three girls, Piper, Keller and Harper. In addition to directing the Voices of the Permian Basin Youth Choir for the West Texas Symphony, she sings regularly with Current Nine. She teaches 4th - 6th grade music on at Midland Classical Academy.
